South India travels

Overview
It’s difficult to find a region more interesting than Central India. The place is Central to India in every sense of word not only because of its geographical location, but also because it has been the nurturer of the cultural heritage of various religions and thought processes which have governed the everyday lives of people across the country. All these historic events have left their remnants in the form of various monuments, temples and other structures which dot the entire region. Everything that is present here is of mammoth proportions, be it the largest forest area, the cave paintings or the Khajuraho temples. The forest area serves as lungs of the country whereas the cave paintings tell the story of a civilization which flourished long before the first written word came into existence. If your eyes are wide eyed already, remember, this is just the beginning of a long and eventful story of central India which will just keep getting better as you begin your travel.

History Recorded
The monuments here are not just structures in stone – these are a record of the history of various empires and their reign and your travel just brings them to the fore. There is an enormous fort at Gwalior which makes you recall the momentous history of the place. Then there are temples and forts at Orchha bequeathed to us by our forefathers from medieval era. The Khajuraho temples show us that along with sheer grandeur, poetry also is possible in stone.

Madhya Pradesh Attractions
If you want to truly understand India from within, you should start your travel with Madhya Pradesh. Khajuraho is definitely the most significant tourism destination in the entire region. It is a world heritage site and the tour packages consisting of Central India are popular among the tourists from across the world. The region is also famous for being the home to the two national parks of immense importance. These are – Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks, where you can experience the wildlife at its very best.
The handicrafts of the region have their own unique charm which creates a desire within you to know more about the craftsmanship and the colourful people of the land. A skillfully woven silk fabric or folk paintings tell you more about the lifestyle of the people here that just plain travel packages. The other articles and artifacts that may catch your attention here include woodcraft, stonecraft, ironcraft, terra-cotta – each of which has the potential to leave you amazed.

Chhattisgarh Attractions
Chhattisgarh is a newly formed state in the central region of India, but don’t let this fact distract you from the ancient cultural heritage of the state which goes as far back as to the Stone Age itself. In the ancient days the state was known as Dakshin Koshal which finds mention in the ancient texts such as Ramayana and Mahabharata as well. It is full of rare monuments, abundant wildlife, exquisite temples and what not. Most of the tourist destinations here still have that untouched feel about them which is a welcome departure from the crowded attractions of other places.
