This New State came into being with the seperation of the hilly regions of Kumaon and Garhwal from Uttar Pradesh . According to the Hindu mythology these two regions are also known as Devbhoomi. In spite of being part of one State , Both Kumaon and Garhwal are absolutely distinct from each other in their ethnicity, culture and history. According to the historians the Garhwal region had been the center of civilization since the earlier times of history.
