Ana Sagar Lake
The Ana Sagar Lake was constructed by King Anaji, the grandfather of celebrated king Prithvi Raj Chauhan in the 12th century. Located to the north of Ajmer in Rajasthan, the Ana Sagar Lake boasts of a very picturesque location that makes it a popular visitor’s spot and one of the most beautiful lakes in Rajasthan, India.
Just next to the lake are the Daulat Bagh gardens that were laid out under the supervision of Mughal Emperor Jehangir. Later, his son Shah Jahan built a series of Bardari pavilions in 1637 AD. However, one thing to note about the Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer is that it dries up during the summers. Hence, tourists visiting the site during that season are likely to be disappointed.
Speaking of the manner in which the Ana Sagar Lake was constructed, it was filled by damming the water of River Luni. Besides, the catchments at the Ana Sagar Lake were built with the help of the locals. This in turn provided them with a good source of water.
A visit to the Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer will also offer visitors a good opportunity to visit some very interesting tourist attractions that lay nearby. So don’t give a visit to this lake a miss whenever you go to Ajmer.
